I now leave it at home more often than not. I used to travel with my fairly portable S1300. It won’t replace my Fujitsu Scansnap - not by a longshot - but for receipts, business cards, or quick single page scans, I reach for my iPhone and Scannable before pulling out my S1300.
Scannable is a game changer in my paperless workflow.
This can result in a slightly blurry image and a re-try. This really isn’t much of a criticism but sometimes the app recognizes and captures the document before you even have a chance to steady the phone. If you’re scanning a glossy piece of paper you’ll have to really watch the angle at which you hold your phone. This works great for most documents but if you are scanning something with a slight sheen, the image won’t be perfect. To make Scannable perform at it’s best you have to use it in a well lit area. I don’t have the Fujitsu iX500 Evernote Edition, but if I did, I could control it with Scannable.
Scansnap Evernote Edition Integration. It’s a polished app with a nice icon and appealing design. This tells me they want the app to appeal not only to Evernote power users, but also as a general replacement for other scanning apps regardless of preferred storage location. Scannable connects flawlessly with Evernote (it’s their app!) but they also allowed for iCloud, Dropbox, and Google Drive integration. I use PDF 95% of the time but I do scan the odd photograph or two and for those instances I’ll select JPEG. You have a choice of file type in the settings. Scannable opens quickly and also processes and sends the images to Evernote quickly. This app is fast! Software that lags never makes it into my paperless workflow. My overall thoughts on Scannable… The Good A Scannable image looks as if it came from a nice scanner whereas images from the Evernote app look like you just took a picture of piece of paper. I never had these same results when scanning from inside the Evernote app. I’ve noticed that when scanning primarily white documents, Scannable does a great job of making the white a true white. This particular piece of paper was slightly curved and Scannable had a hard time flattening the image. The Scansnap image is clearer and brighter whereas the Scannable image is slightly darker and distorted.
